How to Build your List in a Viral Manner

August 2nd, 2009

List building is the most important activity of any online marketer. Whether you are selling your own products or selling affiliate products, starting and building a list is the only way to make money. However, developing a list takes a long time of prospecting, advertising and building relationship. However, there are ways in which you can accelerate this process. This is the viral list building approach also known as cooperative list building. In this article, I will give a couple of examples of how these systems work.

One of the ways in which some of these viral list building systems work is by building two lists simultaneously. One list you build by referring other people to the system and the other list is given to you to market your products to. The first list is built as a standard network with levels. You refer someone who in turn refers more people. Your list is the total number of members in your downline up to a certain level depending on the terms of the program. The second list is not given to you but it is built indirectly by showing your ad to other members of the program when they log in. since everyone is going to log in every day to check for new leads, you can get leads from among the program members. This approach is adopted by www.listbandit.com.

Some sites allow you to build your own referral downline but in addition also build a parallel list built in any random order. So it is possible that one day you are at the bottom of the list and on another day you are at the top. You are given the complete list of your downline members from the randomly rebuilt matrix. This kind of system is adopted by www.yourluckylist.com. In another variation, www.thelistmachine.com simply reverses the complete matrix. So there is the forward matrix in which you join at the bottom while when then matrix is reversed, you emerge at the top with access to more fresh leads. This rebuilding of list is done at frequent intervals usually 2-3 times a week.

Most of these exponential list building programs insist on double opt-in for joining their list. This ensures that you are sending your offer only to valid email ids. Using these viral list building approaches, it is possible to build a really large list in a short time because you are sending your offer to completely new people every time. At the same time, you are building your own downline of referrals to whom you can market your products.

5 Points to Remember During Search Engine Optimization

August 2nd, 2009

Search Engine Optimization is the process of writing your articles or content on the blog in such a manner that allows the search engine to find your content when users search for information. The search engines never reveal how they work but many people have inferred their process after a lot of experiments and experience. Here are 5 points that are usually considered to be useful for SEO.

1. Know your keywords: Even before you start writing your content, you must know what keywords you are going to optimize for. Keywords are those words or phrases which are most commonly used by searchers on the internet. You can find out the most popular keywords using tools like WordTracker and Google’s keyword tool. Then you must weave those keywords in your text so that the search engine finds your content relevant for the user.

2. Write for the reader, not for the search engine: Many marketers in order to manipulate search engine results include way too many keywords in their content. The result is that the content becomes unreadable for the human while supposedly good for the search engine. However, this strategy does not always work. Search engines are becoming smarter and they are able to identify such manipulations and accordingly give a lower ranking. You must remember that you need to write for human users and not for computers. If you write well, people will spread the word but computers cant.

3. Optimize tags: Another place that the search engines looks is the tags. On a web page, there are Meta tags in the html source file. Make sure you include the same keywords in the Meta tags. You should also include the keyword in the title and headings. In case of a video, you must add the keywords in the tags field.

4. Optimize anchor text: While writing articles or using a signature file on forums, you can use keywords as the anchor text. The anchor text is the text that links to the desired URL, in this case, your site. It has been discovered that search engines use the anchor text to determine whether the page at the end of the link is relevant or not. Do not use generic anchor text like “Click here” or “Visit” as this will not help in SEO.

5. Easy navigation: Make your site easy to navigate. If you have a lot of content or heavy graphics and videos, then you must take more care to organize the content and make it easy for the visitor to find information.

Search engines are continuously evolving. Today, they are able to search text, images, and videos all in the same set of results. So SEO is also developing into an art based on a foundation of science. You need to learn both the art and the science to be successful.

Skyrocket your Online Campaign with SEO Tools

August 1st, 2009

Search engine optimization is made easy due to the wide availability of several tools which are simple to use and give superb results. However, not many internet marketers make the right use of such tools. In fact, many would not be even aware that there are such tools. For instance, the Google Toolbar is usually considered useful for blocking pop-ups and bookmarking your favorite sites. However, it can be very useful to monitor back links to your site, the amount of hits you get on your site, your page rank and other important statistics.

The Google Keyword Tool is a marvelous tool, almost indispensable for online marketers. Since, Google is the largest search engine in the world, it has the maximum data on user behavior, what keywords they use to search for information and how long do they search. Whether you are an article marketer or own a content site, this tool will help you in getting more traffic. For any keyword of your choice, this tool will give you a list of related keywords and the average number of searches performed on them per month. You can analyze based on broad searches, exact searches and phrase searches.

If you are advertising using the pay per click program of Google Adwords, you can use the Google Traffic Estimator tool which will tell you how much you should bid for any keyword to get your ad on the first page. It also tells you how many times your ad is likely to be displayed based on your cost per click settings. You can monitor the number of clicks received by each keyword which is very useful in determining whether you want to continue or change to another keyword.

Microsoft Bing is the latest search engine to have hit the market. Actually, it was there earlier as the Windows Live Search. Bing is just the newer version with some additional features. It incorporates a high tech search algorithm that is based on numeric formulas and weights. I am not sure whether all the conventional SEO methods will guarantee the same results on Bing searches. However, an interesting feature which can turn out to be pretty useful is the Demographics Prediction which can give you a demographics profile along with the keyword analysis. The Search Funnel tool allows you to analyze keywords based on historical searches and not just the average number of searches.

There are many more tools that can be really useful. For example, Wordtracker, Keywordtopia, Micro Niche Finder and others. In addition, there are many inbuilt tools in social networking sites like Facebook and Twitter that can help to build more power into your marketing campaigns.

Link Building Strategies

August 1st, 2009

The prime concern of any website owner is getting traffic to his site. One of the popular ways to increase the number of people visiting a site is link building. This refers to the process where a site owner plants his site url on other websites to attract traffic from them to his site. There are also in existence link building exchanges which work in a reciprocal manner. If you promote their url on your site, they will promote your url on their site. There are advantages and drawbacks of using link building exchanges and we will look at them in this article.

The obvious advantage is that you get more people to visit your site. However, the limitation is that you are not sure of the quality of people who visit. After all, you need only those people who are interested in your product. Moreover, you are not even sure how long the people will keep visiting your site. Actually, what you need is inbound links that are relevant and which add to your credibility.

Nowadays, search engines like Google do not give high importance to reciprocal links as they do not want their search results to be of a lower quality. Search engine prefer one-way links that point to your site. That shows that there is quality content on your site because so many other sites are linking back to you. So if you have been solely dependent on link exchanges to generate traffic, you need to think of alternative strategies.

Article marketing is a proven method for creating inbound links. When you share well-researched content on article directories and other content portals, you also provide a link back to your site. This is a one-way link and you do not need to reciprocate. Just having good content in your articles is not enough. You need to provide even higher quality content on your site. Basically, your articles act as a teaser to people, inviting them for more.

The advantage of article marketing is that these links remain permanent and your articles are read only by people who are interested in your field. Nothing works as well as good content when it comes to website promotion. You can also find out the popularity of your article directories. If you submit your content to popular directories, you get more traffic.

I would not recommend you to depend on automated exchanges, link farms and spam blogs which are some of the black hat means of generating inbound links to your site. These things might have an adverse effect and reduce the popularity of your site. Content based link building strategies are a far superior alternative when it comes to link building.
