List building is the most important activity of any online marketer. Whether you are selling your own products or selling affiliate products, starting and building a list is the only way to make money. However, developing a list takes a long time of prospecting, advertising and building relationship. However, there are ways in which you can accelerate this process. This is the viral list building approach also known as cooperative list building. In this article, I will give a couple of examples of how these systems work.

One of the ways in which some of these viral list building systems work is by building two lists simultaneously. One list you build by referring other people to the system and the other list is given to you to market your products to. The first list is built as a standard network with levels. You refer someone who in turn refers more people. Your list is the total number of members in your downline up to a certain level depending on the terms of the program. The second list is not given to you but it is built indirectly by showing your ad to other members of the program when they log in. since everyone is going to log in every day to check for new leads, you can get leads from among the program members. This approach is adopted by www.listbandit.com.

Some sites allow you to build your own referral downline but in addition also build a parallel list built in any random order. So it is possible that one day you are at the bottom of the list and on another day you are at the top. You are given the complete list of your downline members from the randomly rebuilt matrix. This kind of system is adopted by www.yourluckylist.com. In another variation, www.thelistmachine.com simply reverses the complete matrix. So there is the forward matrix in which you join at the bottom while when then matrix is reversed, you emerge at the top with access to more fresh leads. This rebuilding of list is done at frequent intervals usually 2-3 times a week.

Most of these exponential list building programs insist on double opt-in for joining their list. This ensures that you are sending your offer only to valid email ids. Using these viral list building approaches, it is possible to build a really large list in a short time because you are sending your offer to completely new people every time. At the same time, you are building your own downline of referrals to whom you can market your products.
