Is Starlight International just another nutritional MLM?
There is a market for supplemental vitamins; even the healthiest of diets still recommend you take a multi-vitamin to supplement your nutrition.
So many people are living in the fast food world or eating a bunch of pre-made usually unhealthy stuff from a box. These people are really not getting the vitamins and minerals they need. Starlight International has solutions to help these people and even the health nuts meet their nutritional needs.
Steven M. Goldberg founded Starlight International. The interesting this about Mr. Goldberg is he is a Hollywood producer and a successful one at that. His intention is to help people be healthy and live productive lives. Of course that means using/buying their products and selling them to earn income. Steven Goldberg is not the only one from Hollywood; the company’s spokesperson has been on television and film the international star Robert Wagner. Unlike some of the other nutritional network marketing companies, Starlight International has a Food and Drug Law and Regulation Attorney on their staff as well as the standard doctor and an herbalist/ethno botanist. The company offers a range of products dealing with weight loss, beauty products and other wellness products.
Let’s talk vitamins.
All Starlight International’s products are in pill form. The offer them in the form of weight management, advanced antioxidants, anti-aging and daily vitamins. They also have a vitamin for kids and some problem specific vitamins. The products range in price from $11.50-56.00. All prices are clearly visible and it does appear that there are no wholesale prices. This is actually good because it means your customers will not fill up space in your team just to get a discount with no interest in being a business builder. Like most MLM companies, you can order straight from the website.
Starlight is a little different than most network marketing companies. You cannot just sign up and start your business; you actually have to work for it a bit. Any one wanting to become a representative has to have a sponsor, which means the company is not competing against you. Also, you will have to complete a company training before getting started. There compensation is easy to understand. They have 3 levels of compensation on the 1st Phase of the compensation plan. Phase 2 has 4 levels of compensation. To be a qualifying director which is the 1st level of compensation on Phase 1, you have to have $150.00 in personal sales (could be your autoship) and up to $999.00 in teams sales.
One thing that I have to give Starlight International kudos for is having their policy and procedures readily available and easy to find. I do recommend reading any company’s P&P before joining.
Upon further inspection their vitamin prices are high for some of their products, if you are shopping for vitamins at the local drugstore; however they are competitive if you shop at a health food store for your vitamins. With any product compare the ingredients and the DV for the vitamins and be the judge for yourself.
I’m not sure how lucrative this company would be. That will depend on how interested you are in their vitamins and if you can get a hungry group of people wanting their products. Personally, I did not see anything out of the ordinary with their products.
If you are going to spend the time building a business, you would be better off getting paid more for your same time and efforts building something with higher commissions.
Do your due diligence no matter what company you are looking at and decide how much your time is worth.
Who doesn’t want to live longer, be free of aches and pains and have more energy?
All while getting paid to work from home via a MLM/Network Marketing company. It sounds like a picture perfect dreams, doesn’t it? Some distributors from just about every multi-level marketing company would agree and MonaVie is no exception to this.
Dallin Larsen is the founder of MonaVie; the company is located in Salt Lake City, Utah. As far as the compensation goes, some seem to think MonaVie is pretty generous. Their compensation plan as many ways to earn, then again so do many other network marketing companies. You can make a steady income provided you can survive jumping through all the hoops to get those bonuses.
Let’s talk juice.
MonaVie’s flagship product cost $40 retail or $30 wholesale. The $10 price difference entices people to sign up for the $39 membership to get the wholesale price. If they buy in bulk they get even more of a price break. This is all pretty standard in Nutrition Network Marketing companies to get the customer and distributor to buy more to save more.
Acai berry one of the top antioxidant super foods grown in the Amazon is MonaVie’s star ingredient. There are also other fruit juices combined like white grape, cranberry and pomegranate to name a few. It’s supposed to be pretty tasty. All you have to do is take 2 ounces of juice in the morning and 1 in the evening. MonaVie says you can improve your quality of life fast. But do the math, on a 25 ounce bottle that is 4 bottles a month.
Health benefits attributed to the product include boosting your immune system and improved resistance to serious conditions such as heart disease, hypertension, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, arthritis, blindness, cancer and other chronic illnesses. The company literature that I read refrained from making such claims. Some people believe that antioxidants are helpful in slowing aging.
Less than 17 percent of Americans get their daily recommended servings of fruit and produce and 48 percent consume less than one serving a day, so this product could be fulfilling a need for better nutritional habits for most of us.
MonaVie states their juice provides 20% of the recommended daily value of vitamin C per serving. What is interesting is the do not show the he ORAC value which measures the level of antioxidants. This is odd considering Acai berry is the main ingredient and has an ORAC value 3800 per gram. So does it or does it not provides a high value of antioxidants?
You would think for $30-40 a pop MonaVie would provide you with more minerals and vitamins and display their ORAC value proudly on the bottle.
It really does not seem worth the price of admission for the amount of nutrition it provides. While drinking their juice is more pleasurable then swallowing pills, does the means outweigh the cost per month and rival the supplemental vitamins and minerals? That you will have to decide for yourself.
In my opinion the value is not there.
However MonaVie’s strength does not come from a supposed superior product rather through their marketing and distribution. Having consumable product can certainly be an advantage when building residual income, especially if the product can live up to its claims, is MonaVie that product? No, there are plenty more effective products out there. Read the labels, the ingredients and get out your calculators, it’s not algebra and it will save you a lot of money and grief.
When people look at a network marketing company they should check to see that it has a great product that is in high demand, as well as what the monthly autoship would cost and any other fees to run their business monthly.
With MonaVie you would not be replacing your multi-vitamins like you can with some other products in this industry, because it lacks the nutrition to do so. Therefore it is truly an additional expense.
So in ending, could you find a better home-based business with better products than MonaVie? Absolutely! Do not just look for a great comp plan, great product, and great company, also make sure they have a proven marketing system.
