Herbalife Review | Is Herbalife International A Scam?
Herbalife Review
Herbalife International is an MLM (multi-level-marketing) / network marketing company in the niche of weight loss, energy, fitness, nutrition and personal care. It was established in 1980 by Mark Hughes, who was concerned with his mother’s unhealthy struggle with weight loss. Today, the company sells its products through a network of over 1.9 million independent associates in 70 countries worldwide. Quite impressive.
Herbalife has grown rapidly over the years. Within its first two years, it recorded $2 million in sales and went international by starting distributorship in Canada. Mark Hughes started a charity foundation in 1994 dedicated to helping children worldwide. After his death, Herbalife was taken over by Golden Gate Capital and Whitney and Co. LLC in 2002. Michael O. Johnson became CEO in 2003 after 17 years with the Walt Disney Company. Under his leadership, the company has doubled its sales from $1.1 billion to over $2.2 billion.
Herbalife believes that health issues like obesity and heart problems are a result of improper diet and lack of exercise. The company advises people to follow a good exercise regime apart from consuming its weight management products. Herbalife’s core products are Formula 1 nutritional shake mix, Formula 2 multivitamin complex and Cell activator.
Formula 1 shakes are soy based products with proteins, fibers and essential nutrients and are suggested as a meal replacement product. It is available in about 15 varieties including vanilla, chocolate, fruit and wild berry flavors. Formula 2 tablets contain optimal doses of vitamins, antioxidants, folic acid and minerals like calcium and iron. Cell Activator capsules increase the efficiency of the vitamin intake and stimulates cellular metabolism.
Other products are targeted for specific health problems of men, women and children including medications for digestive health, immune system and stress management. Herbalife also markets personal care products like skin revitalizers, anti-aging creams, body and hair essentials and fragrances.
The company’s products are not available in regular drugstores but can only be availed through a distributor or a direct order to the company. Individuals from any stream or occupation can become a Herbalife distributor. All distributors receive detailed training on products and sales.
Herbalife As A Business Opportunity
As a distributor, you are responsible for direct sales of the products. You can also become a Herbalife sponsor and appoint multiple distributors under you. You will then receive a share of all the earnings of the distributors under you. However, if the distributor makes predefined revenue, he will breakaway from your downline and becomes an independent sponsor.
Herbalife’s products are high quality and therefore are also expensive. As with most MLMs, if you want to become a distributor, you must evaluate the initial costs and your ability to get a big downline.
Is Herbalife A Scam?
No! While I personally wouldn’t join Herbalife, absolutely nothing in my research has suggested or implied Herbalife International is a scam. I don’t see any fraudulent activities in any of their marketing or distributor correspondence. From my research, it is a very legitimate company and a worth while business opportunity.
Herbalife Marketing?
While Herbalife (mistakenly known as Herbal Life) is not a scam, you may have trouble marketing it as the culture of the company is old school. I would strongly suggest you learn attraction marketing to build your Herbalife business. One good way to do would be by picking up a copy of Magnetic Sponsoring because it will teach you how to implement attract marketing and “attract” Herbalife distributors to you.
