Powerful Postcard Marketing Tips for a Successful Postcard Marketing Campaign

March 10th, 2009

Some people in Internet Marketing and Network Marketing are starting to see the value in creating postcard marketing campaigns. Not only are they an extremely cost-effective way to target your market, there is also a good ROI and they are a great way to drive traffic to your site. Just like any marketing media, you must create an appealing ad that will get you results.

Here are 5 powerful postcard marketing tips that will make your postcard marketing campaign a success:

1. Know your market and know what they want.

Know your target market demographics so you can target the proper areas in your postcard marketing campaign to get a greater response. Your product should also solve a problem that your target market has.

If you do not know who or where your target market is and what they need your marketing campaign will be guaranteed to fail.

2. First impressions are everything.

Kind of like first impressions are everything in-person the same thing goes for your postcard marketing. People really love to get postcards from friends and family, however not too many people like getting advertisements unless it’s the local sales of the week from their neighborhood grocery stores.

There are a few ways to combat this. One way is by creating a postcard that is very similar to one you would send out a friend and include the date at the top and a signature at the bottom. These types of postcards feel non-threatening. Another is including a funny photo or a great photo that shows a solution to their problem. They are much more likely to turn over the postcard with this strategy as well.

3. Make your message clear.

Postcards have limited room for your message and that gives you a few seconds to grab the reader’s attention and get them to take action. Keep your message as clear and brief as possible and the same goes for what action you want the reader to take.

You can achieve this by keeping your sentences short and also consider using bullet points. Make sure to end your message with what the reader should do next and why.

4. Make it fast.

Since we know we have limited time to engage our reader to take action. Consider listing the biggest benefits of your product first. Keep in mind how your product can solve the problems of your target audience.

One way to grab their attention is to use your biggest benefit as an attention grabbing headline. If you are not using a headline and doing more of a standard postcard approach from a friend then make it your first bullet point or highlight the benefit in the body of your text.

5. Create urgency.

You want the reader to feel they need to take action A.S.A.P., right now! Other wise it may get thrown in the trash or put in the to-do later pile which may never be gotten to later.

Some ways to do this are to create a limited special bonus, a discount or a deadline to respond. Let them know the benefit to taking action now.

Postcards have been affective for ages and are still today a great asset to any marketing campaign. Just keep these 5 powerful postcard marketing tips in mind when you create your postcard marketing campaign and you will have success.

Whether you are high-tech or no-tech you can and should utilize the cost-effective power of postcard marketing in your marketing arsenal right now.

15 Ways to Make Postcard Direct Mail Marketing Work for You

February 25th, 2009

Postcards are still in. Most people consider them old school and while that may be true, they are still a very viable and lucrative means of generating leads and sales.

Just like in any advertising medium you have to grab the consumer’s attention. If you do not grab their attention you can be sure that your postcard will be visiting the trash soon.

To do this you will want to create a compelling advertising on Side A (the side without the address and stamp) to get them to read the card from front to back…

Here are 15 ways to save your direct mail postcards from visiting the trash:

1. Have a photo of your product in an unusual setting or some other wacky photo.

2. Be creative with your copy. Make true claims but be bold with them.

3. Cater to their problems and tell them how your product/service can solve them.

4. Offer something of value, i.e. %15 off of their order or something free. Make it BOLD and OBVIOUS!

5. Feature a compelling testimonial or two.

6. Show Before and After pictures, this is especially great for wellness products.

7. Have a quiz or questionnaire with an incentive to fill it out, like a free report.

8. Is a famous person using your product? Spotlight a photo and testimonial of them using the product.

9. Put a picture of you the sender on it with a personal note.

10. Create compelling copy listing the benefits rather than the features.

11. Create urgency by having a deadline for your offer; make it noticeable by circling in red.

12. If you are not offering a discount, visually show how much money the consumer will save with your product/service.

13. Make your postcard look like a special by-invite-only event.

14. Ask a wacky question or some true and false question and have the answer on the other side or have to go to a website for the answers.

15. If you are using black ink only make sure the postcard is a bright color that stands out. You could also use textured paper to grab their attention.

Remember the goal of your postcard is to grab the reader’s attention.

The goal of Side A of the postcard is to grab their attention and peak their curiosity to get them to flip it over and see what is on the other side and to then take action.
