Are you stuck for tweets on Twitter?

July 31st, 2009

Twitter is the place to get instant results. You have to have patience and continue to use it. Over a period of time, you have a substantial amount of communication and interaction with people and the cumulative effect is what will bring you the results.

Think of your tweets as planting seeds in the soil. You will not get the fruits immediately but the results in the future would be definitely encouraging. But whatever I say, twitter does take up a lot of time. However, when I give you some ideas on how to use it, then you will be better off.

1. Forward tweets: A simple strategy when you are stuck for tweets is to forward someone else’s tweet to your followers. Make sure you forward something that is interesting. The other person might also catch on and will forward your tweets to his followers thereby increasing your followers.

2. Give a feedback: Instead of promoting your business all the time, take a break and tweet about a link you have received. Check out the link and find out something to comment upon.

3. Put a question: People like to answer questions. So a good way to get them talking is to ask a question. Anything will do. You do not have to pick your brains to come up with something interesting.

4. Give a reply: Search for a query to reply on. If you find something that you have an answer to, by all means, go ahead and tweet.

5. Tweet something from your inventory: I suggest you build up an inventory of quotes or small nice things to say. Hire someone to search for quotes on the internet. So whenever you are stuck, pick up something from your store and shoot it off. Quotes are often forwarded and it will be good for you.

6. Wish someone: Express your wishes for someone you know. Say thanks to someone for their re-tweet or appreciation. Ask someone – what’s up.

7. #followfriday: Every Friday, twitter users recommend other people to follow by adding a hash symbol to their user names. Basically you tell others to follow some of the people you like. Who knows they might do the same for you.

8. Poll: Use the #poll tag to request feedback on something you want to know. Expect a large response for those.

9. Simply tweet: Twitter is all about expressing what you are doing right now. So if you are stuck for what to tweet, you can simply tweet – “Thinking what to tweet”. That might help to dislodge your thought barrier.

To reiterate my point, have patience and continue to implement these strategies. No single tweet is ever wasted. Everything contributes to building your personality and brand on the internet.

Article Marketing Tips | Using Twitter to Repurpose Your Articles

March 23rd, 2009

Distributing articles to article directories is just one of the many ways to utilize the power of article marketing.

Repurposing your article can be done in many ways and should be to leverage your article marketing and time to the max. One of the easiest and extremely effective ways to repurpose your articles is by using Twitter.

If you haven’t yet grasped why you should be on Twitter, this article will give you 7 good reasons why to use Twitter even if only to use it in your article marketing arsenal.

Here are the 7 reasons why you should repurpose your articles on Twitter:

1. Expand your reach of influence. It is getting very easy to build a quality, niche targeted list on Twitter and fast. This first reason alone is enough to get on to Twitter and share your articles with other people you may not reach any other way. What’s really great is your article will not only be seen by those that are following you… It may also be seen by those following them, not to mention the possibilities of your article going viral and being retweeted.

2. Be helpful. When you see people on Twitter asking questions and you have an article that would answer their problem let them know about it. Also, when you see people talking about a specific subject you wrote about you can suggest your article for additional reading.

3. Become an expert. When you are sending people helpful articles you wrote and giving them great resources you may or may not have created you are building credibility and establishing yourself as an expert in your niche.

4. Speedy results. Whether you are posting in the AM or PM, you are bound to get replies and feedback from people. Since it is so short and sweet at 140 characters there seems to be more interaction than with emails.

5. Automate it. You can set up your blog and Ezine Articles account to automatically repurpose your new article by blasting them out to your Twitter account. For your blog you can find various plugins to achieve this result and for Ezine Articles just go to ‘Edit Author Bio’ and add your Twitter account login info.

6. Social Market. By using your articles as problem solvers you are socializing and marketing all at once. Social marketing does not get much easier than this.

7. Multiple messages are welcomed. Unlike a mailing list where sending more than one email a day could be a bad thing… Twitter is the opposite. One post on Twitter a day is not enough; people expect and want more interaction than one message of 140 characters especially if you are adding value.

If the above 7 reasons are not enough for you to repurpose your articles on Twitter, maybe you should rethink why you are article marketing in the first place.

Online Marketing Tools | Twitter for Business

March 16th, 2009

Twitter has really been a powerhouse since 2008.

The momentum is only growing with no signs of it slowing down. If you are one of those people that still does not “get” Twitter and why everyone is making such a big deal about it… Do not fear, as I was not long ago in your shoes. This article will help you “get” how you can use Twitter for business as one of the most powerful online marketing tools in your marketing arsenal.

You have 140 characters to effectively get your message out on Twitter.

What should you write about? According to Twitter they want to know, “What are you doing?” That’s exactly what you will see others talking about. It is not just talking about waking up, what you are eating, what movie you went to, etc. It is also about what project are you working on, are you doing a teleseminar, a webinar, did you just read a great article by an expert in your niche/industry and so on.

It is not just about stuff that promotes your business that is part of it, but it is also about adding value that may not point to your products and services as well as being humane by injecting some of your personal life into the mix.

Think of Twitter as one of your lists like an autoresponder, but it is public, you only have 140 characters for each message and it is much faster to build a massive list.

The power of this is when you have a list of thousands and you send out “Here is the blog I just wrote about xyz” or “Here is my favorite way to market online…” or “Here is my new free ebook on xyz let me know what you think.” Whatever the case may be from calls, webinars, videos, blogs, ebooks, surveys, polls, etc. you will get massive results the bigger your Twitter follower list is.

The influence and simplicity of creating a massive Twitter list is what makes Twitter truly powerful.

Here are the basic steps to use Twitter for business:

1. Visit Twitter and create your account. Choose your name, if you are branding you or your business name. It wouldn’t hurt to have both.

2. Setup your profile. Go to “settings” and fill out all the information. In the short bio section put as many keywords that describe you and what you do. This will help people a. know what you do and b. find you when doing searches with those keywords. Make sure to put your website in the section for it and use either your company’s website or a blog. If you are in Network Marketing or Direct Sales, stay away from putting duplicated websites. If you do not have a website that can tell the people more about you and that is not solely for advertising purposes then send them to one of your other social network profiles.

3. Find people to follow. You can find gurus in your industry and follow them. This will get some of their followers following you. You can also look at who the gurus are following and those following them and choose to follow people that fit your niche. A quicker way to do this is to use Mr. Tweet which will show you who you should be following in your industry with weekly updates. You can also do searches for keywords for your industry to find people to follow. You want 10% more people following you than you are following. There is a following limit once you hit 2000 people you are following, if you have 2000+ people following you the limit will be removed.

4. Get more followers. If someone hasn’t followed you back after a week unless they are some super guru you want to keep tabs on unfollow them. This helps unclutter your Twitter and is super important if you have want to surpass the 2k limit. You can use dossy.org/twitter/karma to bulk unfollow people that are not following you. Another tool similar but does not have bulk unfollow is friendorfollow.com. Do this once a week and get back to adding people and rinse and repeat to get a robust, responsive and massive list. A great tool to setup auto follows, auto unfollows, track keywords and track @ replies is tweetlater.com.

Remember to add value content that is yours and others that you recommend. Make some tweets personal. Also interact with at least 10 people on Twitter daily. Add new people and unfollow those not following you after a week. There are a ton of useful Twitter apps, find the ones like some suggested above that are time savers and make your Twitter experience as easy and simple as possible.

The keys are to not get overwhelmed, be consistent and add value. Do all of the above and you will be well on your way to creating a massive and responsive list for your business.

If you haven’t heard of Twitter yet, you’re probably living under a rock.

That said, if you’re tweeting it up and wondering how to find local people on Twitter, I have two solutions for you:

TwitterLocal

TwitterLocal is an Abode Air application you can download. It’s easy enough to you use – you juse open and it will show you people who recently tweeted on Twitter in the geographic area you give it. Fun and easy!

Nearby Tweets

Nearby Tweets is just like TwitterLocal except it’s delivered over the Web and you don’t have to download it. I personally prefer Nearby Tweets as it’s web-based.
